When I began my healing journey in my early twenties, I thought the goal was to fix myself, to stop feeling tired, anxious or bloated. I tried everything from restrictive diets to intense workouts. And while those efforts helped for a while, I kept hitting the same wall.
Everything changed when I discovered root cause care and functional health. Working with a practitioner taught me that my body wasn’t broken; it was simply communicating. Every symptom was a message pointing me toward deeper balance.

For years, I believed that pushing harder was the path to results. But I was unknowingly living in a constant state of stress, stuck in fight or flight.
When I began to prioritize recovery through walking outdoors, stretching, hydrating and resting, everything shifted.
Suddenly, I wasn’t exhausted after workouts. I had more energy, better focus and my body finally started responding. Rest wasn’t slowing me down; it was rebuilding me.
Reintroducing Joy Into Nutrition
At one point, my diet was so strict that I lost the simple joy of eating. Gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, I was terrified to break my food rules.
With guidance, I slowly began to reintroduce foods and listen to my body’s feedback. This wasn’t just about digestion; it was about rebuilding trust with my body. I learned that healing your relationship with food is also healing your nervous system.

A few months ago, I got sick and found myself spiraling, thinking, “I’m doing everything right. Why is this happening again?”
But as I rested, it clicked. My body wasn’t breaking down; it was recalibrating. It needed a pause. A moment to restore.
When I ran my labs, I saw what was happening internally: inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, low immune function. My body was asking for balance, not punishment.
